The Outreach Programme started in order to reach people who
were unable to come to Kimlea and benefit from the
various activities organised there. The main areas addressed by the
Outreach are:
Adult literacy: An adult
education course for women is run in three different villages around Kimlea.
Child Care: Kimlea runs two nursery schools,
Gatina and Maramba, where the children of the workers are catered for during
the day.
Medical Health :A medical camp to
attend to the health needs of the villagers has been held monthly, but will
now be replaced by a dispensary that has been built at Kimlea in order
to provide permanent medical facilities.
A number of people assist in these outreach programmes, among them university students
from both local and foreign universities.
This outreach project is supported by
Harambee 2002 a project that was
started in 2002 to promote education and development projects in Africa.
